Developed by Sarufi Developers Ltd in Kenya, the Waterless Eco-Toilet initiative explores how engineering and biological waste treatment can help address sanitation challenges in locations where water and conventional sewer infrastructure are limited.

The initiative was developed in response to the need for alternative sanitation systems that reduce reliance on flushing water and support more responsible waste management.
It is a locally developed engineering approach with field-pilot experience and ongoing opportunities for technical validation, collaboration and improvement — not a finished, certified product.
We present it as a work in progress: one being advanced carefully, with institutional partners, toward wider adoption.
